Charlie Kirk, co-founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on the campus of Utah Valley University, prompting Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action to honor his legacy through various initiatives. These efforts include launching the Charlie Kirk Free Speech Day campaign, establishing the Charlie Kirk Courage Fellowship, advocating against speech restrictions on campuses, and supporting student-led events promoting pro-life messages and free speech. Several states have passed legislation inspired by SFLAction's efforts to recognize Charlie Kirk's birthday as a free speech holiday, and ongoing legal actions and campus activities continue to uphold his mission of defending life and free speech among young Americans.
